Theta Alpha Zeta Chapter History

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Theta Alpha Zeta Chapter was chartered June 7, 1975 by fourteen women. Their vision was one of world-class service. This vision continues to be embraced by all who have become members of Theta Alpha Zeta Chapter.

We continue to serve our community through cooperative partnerships to assure that the services provided and the information distributed are always in alignment with the needs of our community.

Theta Alpha Zeta has established undergraduate chapters on college campuses in Buffalo, Cornell, Geneseo, Syracuse and Rochester. Currently, Theta Alpha Zeta is the graduate sponsoring chapter for our undergraduate metropolitan chapter, Chi Lambda which currently serves the campuses of the Rochester Institute of Technology, the University of Rochester, and the College at Brockport.

Theta Alpha Zeta has organized three youth and one adult auxiliary groups in Rochester, NY:

Zeta Amicae (women who, for various reasons, are not members of any Greek-letter organization)
Zeta Archonettes (high school students)
Zeta Amicettes (ages 9-13)
Zeta Pearlettes (ages 4-8)

The Chapter, to date, has awarded over $150,000 in scholarships to high school students in Monroe County. The funds are raised through various fundraising events.

Upholding the ideas set forth by our Five Pearls, members of Theta Alpha Zeta, have given back countless hours to their community through projects such as adopting a local high school, Stork's Nest, voter registration and voter education, blood drives and implementing programs through our national Z-HOPE (Zetas Helping Others Excel) initiative. We have partnered with a number of communication organization including the March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, and the League of Women Voters.
