Theta Alpha Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. was established in 1975 by fourteen women who wanted to serve their community under the auspices of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Their vision was one of world-class service. This vision continues to be embraced by all who have become members of Theta Zeta Chapter.
We continue to serve our community through cooperative partnerships to assure that the services that we provide and the information that we distribute are always in keeping with the needs of our community. Also, we work closely with our Undergraduate Chapter in the area, Chi Lambda.
The Theta Alpha Zeta chapter has established undergraduate chapters on college campuses in Buffalo, Cornell, Geneseo, Syracuse and Rochester. Currently, Theta Alpha Zeta sponsors an undergraduate chapter (Chi Lambda) at the University of Rochester, RIT and SUNY Brockport. Theta Alpha Zeta has organized four auxillary groups: Zeta Amicae (women who do not have a college degree and are friends or Zetas), Zeta Archonettes (high school students), Zeta Amicettes (ages 9-14) and Zeta Pearlettes (ages 4-8). All auxillary groups are currently active.
The Chapter to date has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to high school students in the Rochester area. The funds are raised through fundraising events which have included Fashion show, Bus Trips to Toronto and NYC, Scholarship Dinners, and a Boat Ride along Lake Ontario.
Upholding the ideas set forth by our Five Pearls, members of Theta Alpha Zeta has given back countless hours to their community through projects such as adopting a patient at Monroe Community Hospital, Stork's Nest, Means on Wheels, adopting needing families, taking active part in registering voters, and implementing programs through the Z-Hope (Zetas Helping Others Excel) initiative. Organizations we have partnered with include the March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, and the American Association of University Women.
